Tami Farrell quickly became one of my best friends when I moved into our apartment on the upper west side of NYC. She was Miss Teen USA 2003 and when Susie Castillo crowned me the new Miss USA, Susie moved out of the titleholder apartment she shared with Tami and Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2003, and I moved in. Many people don't know that Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA all live together in an apartment in NYC for the year. Pillow fights, scary movies and cupcake nights? Yes... we did it all.
With the Miss Teen USA competition happening this weekend, we asked Tami to write a blog for us and she creatively decided to write a letter to her teenage self. This is her letter...
A Letter To My Teenage Self
By Tami Farrell
You are beautiful. You are beautiful just the way you are. Your imperfections are what make you unique. There has never been nor will there ever be another you. Love the masterpiece that you are.
Dream. Dream big. Fail big. Just because you fail it doesn't mean you are a failure. Learn from your mistakes. Try again. Try harder.
People and circumstances will break your heart but you will also be blessed beyond what you've ever imagined. You will at times feel broken but you are stronger than you think.
Love. Love deeply, sweetly and beautifully. Love your life, your family, friends and yourself. Take the time to get to know who you really are and what you really want out of life.
Be bold. Be fearless and never settle. You are a work in progress. Your happiness isn't limited to your successes. Greet each day as a new adventure and thank God for the life he's given you.
"Love the masterpiece that you are."
