I sorta just invented this for lunch yesterday and loved it so much I wanted to share it with y'all! Here's the recipe:
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen sweet cherries (pitted)
2 dates (remember to remove the pits)
2 tablespoons of raw/organic almond butter
1-2 cups of almond milk (use less if you want your smoothie thick)
1 scoop of Sun Warrior Raw Vegan Protein
1. Put everything except for the protein powder into a high-powered blender and blend on high.
2. Slowly add more almond milk if you want it to be more "liquidy".
3. When everything has blended smoothly, lower dial to medium and add the scoop of protein powder as its blending. I add the protein while the smoothie is blending so that the powder doesn't stick to the sides.
4. Pour in a tall glass and enjoy your tasty treat! I make about 20oz and it's totally filling.
I make smoothies pretty much everyday. I started feeling a little tired in the afternoons and when I asked my doctor about it, he suggested that I do smoothies with vegan protein everyday because I'm vegetarian. I get my protein from plant-based sources like beans, leafy greens, quinoa, and nuts/seeds for example. And I occasionally eat eggs and cheese. I LOVE CHEESE but I try not to eat it often. My doc said that since I was feeling lethargic (something that's never happened since I switched to a plant-based diet 7 years ago) I may be one of those people that just needs extra protein in my diet. He suggested that I do a scoop of Sun Warrior Protein in a smoothie everyday so that's what I've been doing and, thankfully, I feel way better :) No more feeling tired in the afternoons!
